The Biomedical Engineering Honor Society |
About ΑΗΜΒHistoryAlpha Eta Mu Beta is the biomedical engineering honor society founded by
Dr. Daniel Reneau of Louisiana Tech University, under the sponsorship of the
Alliance for Engineering in Medicine and Biology. The first chapter was founded at
Louisiana Tech in 1979, and currently there are more than ten chapters located
throughout the United States. The Society is now associated with the Biomedical
Engineering Society (BMES). The Washington University chapter was founded in 2002, when 10 members were inducted. Due to timing and logistics, no members were inducted in 2003, but in 2004 we gained 13 new members and are looking to increase our involvement. We sent a representative to the Annual Meeting held at BMES in October 2004, and we will be involved with organizing the Ethics session to be held at BMES in 2005. Our advisor is Dr. Salvatore Sutera, Senior Professor of Biomedical Engineering. The Four PillarsMembers of Alpha Eta Mu Beta should exemplify the following characteristics that comprise the Four Pillars of the Society:
Chapters nationwide are invited to create a project that speaks to one of these pillars.
