Description

This course will review the basic management concepts of telecommunications, examine the current state-of-the-art, and take a look into the future. The basic concepts consist of six major components: signals and waves; electricity; system elements; modulation; digital signals; computers and data communications. Media, distribution frames, and outside plant facilities will also be covered. The role that standard making and regulatory bodies have on the telecommunications industry, and their effects on both contemporary and future telecommunications products, will be discussed. Includes instructional demonstrations and student hands-on lab experience.

Welcome to Introduction to Telecommunications Technology.

09/03/2003

The class has agreed to start one half hour earlier than the scheduled time.  Effective Wednesday, 09/10/2003, we will meet from 5:30PM to 8:00PM.

09/24/2003

We are moving the start time back to the regularly scheduled time.  Effective Wednesday, 10/01/2003, the class will meet from 6:00PM to 8:30PM.

11/8/2003

An extra credit question has been added to the TRIB assignment, which is due 11/19/2003.  The TRIB assignment and PowerPoint slides on protocol efficiency and TRIB are available for download.

12/3/2003

A link to the final exam will be activated in TeleSIS after 5:00 PM.  Please email your completed exam to me no later than 12/17/2003.
